Question 4

Did Felicity and Paige appreciate their mother taking them to Bloodstone Beach?

No, I think that when Paige's mum said they were going on holiday Felicty was the one that got all excited, but once they both found out where they were going they were not one bit excited. That was untill Paige found her new best friend. Felicity would have definately of rathered being back home but her mum said that that was not an option. Felicity's name for the physic fair was 'juvy' just because the place had no reception or a mirroror that she had to go and buy herself dinner and that the wardrobe was the size of a pencil case. I think that Paige deserves to have a good start to high school at least because for everything she has been put through she has been handling everything the right way. Paige definately deserves to have friends who will be kind and generous to her. I think Paige should be a part of the popular group, except I don't think she should have lied to them because at least for one day she will be able to hang with the popular crowd.

Question 3

If you were Paige, would you be sad to leave Bloodstone Beach?

If I was in Paige's position, my family was split up and I am spending the summer at Bloodstone Beach, etc. I would e very sad to leave. I would also be sad to leave my new true best friend, Shelly. I would be sad because once I got use to staying around Bloodstone Beach, I had to leave and once I truly got to know Shelly, I had to leave her and it was hard knowing that you will never see your best friend again and watching her chase your hoarse until we left bloodstone beach. I would be sad to leave my best friend, who is the only true friend I have ever had. It would of been hard to leave because Shelly has grown up a bit like her, she grew up independent like Paige. For Paige and the rest of her family, it was not an easy goodbye, Mum cued as she left Rueben, Felicity cried when she left Jack and Paige was devastated that she had to leave Shelly.

Question 2

Has Paige been telling the truth to her new high school friends?
No Paige has not been telling the truth to her new friends in high school.Eversince Paige has started high school she accidentally made the wrong impression. Going from someone who has never been out there enough who has never gotten in trouble before to someone who got into trouble on the first day of high school is a very big change and Paige never ever said that it was a bad change. She just made a big wrong impression! After that happened everybody thought she was a real rebel and that she truly did spend the holidays in juve when it was just her sisters nickname for the physic fair. After that happened the popular people noticed that they need her and Paige took that offer. As she was hanging out with the popular people she noticed that she would have to lie to keep her spot and so she did. I think lieing would be the wrong thing to do because if Paige wants to be popular her regular life is not going to pass the popular group.

Question One

Did Paige cause her father to leave?

No, Paige did not cause her father to leave. Before her father left, he said that he had been thinking about it for a while I believe that he got the signal to move after what happened at Felicity's party. He said that he wanted to hold out until Christmas but I think that Mum and him had been having some troubles lately and he didn't think it would be right to stay. Her Dad said that he would come over on Christmas Day except I believe her mother moved on purpose so she didn't have to see him after what happened. Her mother went to the physic fair to refresh her mind from the fight that happened and to learn how to read fortunes better. I believe that it was not Paige's fault that caused her father to leave, it was not anybodies but if we were to choose someone it would be her mother. She is the one that is married to him and they had been having some difficulties in the past and that is what caused her father to leave. Paige's mother was not all that encouraging for her husband to come back. And that explains allot. It started when the fight happened at Felicities birthday party. After the party finished Dad noticed that he really shouldn't hold out until Christmas day and that it would brake his two daughters hearts. When he left Mum overheard him saying goodbye to Paige. He said he would come back on Christmas day and then Mum thought about it and thought that she would not be able to stand having him here again and she thought she would get away and that is exactly would they did.

The Blurb of the Book:

Can you be yourself when everything changes?
A mix-up . . .
A wrong impression . . .
A complete new set of rules . . .

Paige has been best friends with Elfi and Rochelle ever since she can remember. On the last day of the school year they make a vow to stay friends forever. But when Paige gets back to school after the summer, she accidentally falls in with the popular crowd and things start to get complicated. Can Paige stay true to her old friends when her new friends don’t like them? And can she stay true to herself when she isn’t sure who she is anymore?

My Personal Interpretation:

Paige is a quiet, shy girl who never attracts much attention. On the last day of school, she discovers no one has written in her yearbook apart from her three best friends, and as a result she starts to feel lonely and invisible to everyone. She also has some family troubles in the holidays, and no one seems to care. When she gets back to school after the holidays, she accidentally falls in with the popular crowd and she struggles to remain the quiet, kind person she always thought she'd be.
Give Me Four Reasons is a very nice book. It has lots of good messages in it, such as trying to stay true to yourself and the importance of family. The plot is complicated without becoming overly ridiculous and the characters are well-developed and believable. Little bits of humour are strung throughout to give this at-times-sad book a lighter edge. It's quite suitable for kids moving from primary school to high school, with good advice on surviving the transition, good advice on coping with the new environment and people, and good advice on friendships. Sometimes this book will come across as very dramatic, such as the last few chapters, and there is a small problem with the ending, because everything seems to tie together too perfectly. Everything is concluded too neatly. Apart from those few small flaws, this is certainly worth a read.
Give Me Four Reasons is a lovely book with great characters and a good plot. Younger readers, especially girls, would definitely like it.

For my Indepandent Novel Study I have chosen the book 'Give me Four Reasons' by Lizzie Wilcock
